 ETEX Crews Repair Fiber Cable
Crews from ETEX Phone Cooperative worked through the day on Thursday to restore phone and internet service to approximately 3,500 customers in the Lake O the Pines area. Construction on a proposed overpass on Highway 259 at the intersection of Highway 155 mandated the relocation of utilities including electrical, water, and phone services at the intersection.
The previous night, ETEX had successfully relocated phone services to newly installed fiber optic cabling. At mid-morning on Thursday, while relocating water lines, a contractor cut the new fiber optic lines that provided service to not only Lake O' the Pines customers, but also business and industrial customers, including Lone Star Steel. After an approximate 5 hour outage, service was substantially restored to the affected customers by Thursday afternoon.
